A total of six blockchain startups have made it to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF’s) list of technology pioneers for 2020.

These startups are decentralized organization MakerDAO, bitcoin Lightning Network’s infrastructure developer Lightning Labs, blockchain analytics firms Elliptic, decentralized oracle network Chainlink, blockchain payments firm Ripio, and blockchain-enabled environmental tech startup Veridum Labs.

The WEF’s 2020 list includes a total of 100 firms from around the world that are pioneering new technologies and innovations, from artificial intelligence and machine learning to the internet of things (IoT) and robotics.

The WEF has been recognizing a limited number of tech pioneers every year since 2000 and incorporates them into its initiatives and events to bring insights into “world-critical” discussions.

Tech pioneers also become part of the WEF’s global innovators community and strategic intelligence ecosystem to help industry leaders with fresh perspectives.

Last year, blockchain solutions firm Bitfury was one of the blockchain startups on the WEF’s list. Ripple was also recognized by the forum in 2015.
